My grandmother’s (Josephine Nash Ofstedahl) South Dakota cousin Charles A. Nash published a Nash Genealogy ca 1960. He inscribed a copy to me in 1966. He included the generations from the arrival of Thomas Nash in New England in 1637 to the time he published the genealogy. His focus though was on the Dakota Nashes and he did a fairly complete job of covering the Nashes from the time that they arrived in South Dakota in 1883 during the Dakota Boom. He also describes a couple of Nash family lines where the families remained in Illinois as their relatives moved to Dakota Territory. I thought it would lay a good foundation to just post his genealogy and give context to all further Nash pages.
Ted Nash, my grandmother’s brother, did the woodcut for the cover. Charles died in 1977, but not before typing out over thirty pages of his “Recollections”, which contain further stories about the Nashes in South Dakota.
